Wednesday April 29 – Demonstration Day: Mammal Taxidermy
Watch live how a mammal is prepared!
On Wednesday April 29, taxidermist Daphne Plugers will give free taxidermy demonstrations at the Museumwinkel in Nijmegen.
Daphne is a multiple award-winning taxidermist and will demonstrate step by step how a mammal is mounted. During the demonstration she will explain the profession of taxidermy, the techniques involved and the craftsmanship required to preserve an animal in the most lifelike way possible.
Demonstration times:
10:00 – 12:30
13:00 – 16:00
Taxidermy is no longer considered old-fashioned. The beauty of nature deserves to be seen, and natural elements such as insects, birds, mammals and antlers are increasingly featured in modern interiors.
At the Museumwinkel you will find a remarkable collection of mounted butterflies, insects, birds and mammals. In our workshop several experienced taxidermists and entomologists work daily on preparing animals for education, research and decoration. All animals used have died of natural causes.
Visitors of all ages are welcome to come and watch and ask questions. It is a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the fascinating craft of taxidermy.
In addition, you will receive 15% discount on the entire assortment in the store on this day!
