We are an official and award-winning taxidermy company

Bird taxidermy

Have you found a deceased bird or is your own bird deceased? You can come to us to give the animal a dignified second life.

The Museum Shop works with 5 certified and award-winning taxidermists. Both our taxidermist Rick Way and taxidermist Sophie Kiela are multiple Dutch champions in bird taxidermy.

What to do if you find a deceased bird?

You can bring the animal directly to us or temporarily place it in a plastic bag in the freezer. This helps preserve its freshness, which is beneficial for taxidermy. Since January 1, 2017, it is no longer necessary to visit the police station with the deceased animal. A transport certificate is also no longer required. We will register the animal with the RVO for you and provide the bird with a tag before we begin the taxidermy process.

We can also mount protected bird species, provided they have died naturally.

Procedure

Before we begin mounting the bird, we always consult with you about the pose in which you would like the bird to be displayed. Naturally, we will also advise you on this. There are many possibilities. If you visit us in the store, we can show you many different mounted birds as examples.

Lead time and pick-up

The taxidermy process will take several months (currently 4-6 months). Once completed, we will contact you again so that you can pick up your bird from us at the Museum Shop in Nijmegen.

Costs

The cost of mounting birds varies. The price depends on factors such as the size of the animal, the species, and the desired pose. Please contact us so that we can discuss your wishes.
