Mounting pet dog

What do you do when your dog passes away and you can't say goodbye? And if cremation or burial doesn’t feel like the right choice? It is possible to have your dog taxidermied and give them a dignified second life.

Taxidermy can help with the grieving process. It can be comforting to still have your dog with you, which may lessen the feeling of loss. There are several options available for this.

You can come to us to have your dog taxidermied. Our award-winning taxidermists have years of experience working with dogs, cats, and other animals.

Have your dog taxidermied

Our taxidermists are very aware of the strong bond between you and your dog. We take the time to walk you through all the steps and options. You can choose to have your dog mounted, the skull preserved, or the skeleton articulated.

When your dog passes away

Do not wait too long. It is important to freeze your deceased dog as soon as possible to prevent damage. If you do not have a freezer at home, come directly to our store de Museumwinkel in Nijmegen. We will store your dog in our freezer for you.

The taxidermy process of your dog

Sending photos

If you choose to have your dog taxidermied, we ask for clear reference photos. We strive to recreate your dog as lifelike as possible. Important photo aspects include:

  • The pose in which you would like your dog mounted
  • The eye color
  • The head, preferably from multiple angles
  • Other features that are important to you

You can email the photos, mentioning your name and your dog’s name, to: [email protected]

Our approach

No one knows your dog better than you do. That’s why we offer two revision moments (worth €150) during the process, so you can be actively involved in how your dog is mounted.

After the taxidermy is completed, we will contact you to discuss any final wishes.

Completion time and pickup

Mounting a dog typically takes between 12 and 16 months. Once the work is complete, we will contact you so you can pick up your dog from our store in Nijmegen.

Dog taxidermy costs

The cost of dog taxidermy varies by case. The price depends on factors such as the size of the dog, the type of coat, and the desired pose. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your wishes.
