Perdix Perdix
Origin: Europe
Guest item.
The Roman writer Ovid wrote that the young Perdix was pushed off the Parthenon by his uncle Daedalus. Just before he hit the ground, the goddess Pallas Athena, to save him, turned him into a partridge. This is the reason why partridges are afraid to fly at high altitudes, according to Ovid.
