Ammonite fossil of the genus Douvilleiceras. Due to its striking, deep ribs and knobbly texture, this specific type of ammonite is also commonly known as a ‘tractor ammonite’.
The shell is characterised by sturdy, undulating transverse ribs with pronounced knobs or spines, giving it its characteristic, cogwheel-like profile.
This fossil dates from the Lower Cretaceous (Albian), meaning it is approximately 110 million years old.
