Balaeniceps rex
Origin: East Africa
The shoebill, also known as the whalebill, whale-headed stork, and shoe-billed stork is a large long-legged wading bird. It derives its name from its enormous shoe-shaped bill. This animal lives largely solitary and hunts by ambushing its prey. The bird has grey plumage. Thanks to its wide bill, it can easily catch (scoop) fish in murky water.
