Productinformation

Douvilleiceras is an extinct genus of molluscs and are a subspecies of squid. Ammonites were marine animals that occurred in large numbers worldwide and lived during the Early Cretaceous.

Ammonite Douvilleiceras

Period: Paleozoic and throughout the Mesozoic.

This ammonite had a laterally compressed, evolute shell with a rounded ventral side with continuous, solid, single ribs. The ribs were composed of several large tubercles, which originally would have contained long spines. This genus was a poor swimmer, which was due to the plump shape of the shell. Most of the time this species spent hunting or scavenging on the seabed.
